The Designer
Hi, I'm Joel
I’m a designer who cares deeply about clarity, structure, and how work feels while it’s getting made. I believe good systems should make things easier, not just for users, but for the people building them together.
I’m calm by nature, optimistic by default, and often the person people turn to when things feel complicated or tense.

Collaboration
How I Work With People
I tend to be the steady one in the room.
When conversations get heated or decisions feel stuck, I’m comfortable slowing things down, clarifying what actually matters, and helping people move forward without friction.
I listen carefully, ask questions, and don’t panic. A little shared understanding and a little humor usually go a long way.
Design can be thoughtful without being heavy, and professional without being stiff. When people feel at ease, they’re more open, more honest, and more willing to explore better ideas. That’s where the best work tends to happen.
Values
What Guides the Work
In my work, I care about:
- Clear thinking and strong foundations
- Communication that doesn’t overcomplicate things
- Collaboration that feels respectful and human
I’m most energized by teams that value care, clarity, and forward momentum in equal measure.
Fun Facts
A Bit More About Me
Mai Tais & Zombies
I spent years bartending in a tiki bar, which taught me how to read a room, stay calm under pressure, and make people feel welcome.
Now Boarding
I once traveled to 12 countries in 12 months, which gave me a deep appreciation for different perspectives and ways of communicating.
Yes And...
I studied improv comedy, which later helped me feel comfortable on camera when I ended up appearing in a variety of commercials.
All of that reinforced the same lesson: pay attention, stay flexible, and don’t forget to have fun.
